Tips for Looking Picture-Perfect

Makeup: As a general rule, photo and video makeup is a little more dramatic then "street makeup". That means good overall foundation and the necessary contouring and highlighting to accentuate the strong features in your face. Thorough blending of makeup is essential as photographs tend to accentuate any visible edge. Muted earth tones, corals and browns work well with pale and light skin tones and richer darker colors can be used with darker skin. Avoid "frosties", bronze makeup, and anything sparkly. Avoid thick lines around the eyes because that will make them look smaller. Accent the outer corners of the eyes to build an almond shape. Avoid dark lids and dark circles under the eyes. The goal is to brighten the eyes, so grays, blues and peach tones are preferable to browns and blacks.

Acting: Play with each other, do not be shy to act for the camera. Think about your relationship, your love, the little things that make you happy. Your emotions will show in the pictures.

Posing: Try to stand on an angle to the camera to shape the body. Create a nice look by crossing one foot over the other, slightly bending the elbows and arching back. Tip your heads. Relax and smile!

Dressing for Engagement Pictures: Dress in quiet, plain colors, and avoid stripes or patterns. Long sleeves, long pants or skirts are the best. Remember that dark colors slim and streamline the body. Avoid white tops, shirts, socks or shoes. Try to dress in the same style and avoid mixing casual & formal. No sneakers or baggy clothes, please. Keep your hands free for hugging: leave your purse in the car.

Most importantly, relax and have fun!
