The Top Ten Rules of Choosing A Wedding Photographer

Don't skimp on wedding photography. Budget enough for the best professional photographer that you can afford.

Choose wedding photographer wisely. Interview at least three photographers and view their portfolios before deciding.

Deal direct. Deal directly with the photographer who will be shooting you wedding.

Get comfortable. Make sure that you are comfortable with your photographer during initial wedding consultation.

Check the wedding photographer's work. See the wedding photographer's work in lighting conditions similar to your wedding lighting. If most of the wedding photography will be done indoors, see an indoor wedding. If the ceremony is outside make sure that you see a wedding ceremony shot outside at the same time of day.

Check the wedding photographer's experience. Make sure that your wedding photographer has done your type of religious service before.

Check out the wedding studio approach to the wedding photography. Make sure that the wedding photographer has enough backup equipment. Check out the wedding studio image backup process. Make sure that your wedding images will be stored in more then one place on different storage media.

Don't rush on the wedding day. Avoid tight deadlines on the wedding day by scheduling enough time to allow for any possible delays.

Order all that you need as a part of the wedding package. Order all the products that you want, wedding albums, portraits, wedding slide shows, high resolution images as a part of the initial order. You get much better price before you booked the wedding photography.

Q: What kind of equipment do you use for wedding photography?
A: For wedding photography I use professional top quality Canon digital cameras which produce images with 12MP resolution and a range of the best professional Canon lenses and flashes.

Q: Do you have backup equipment?
A: Yes, I do, two cameras and many lenses and flashes.

Q: Is there a traveling fee for weddings located in GTA (Greater Toronto Area)?
A: No, there is no traveling fee for weddings located in Toronto and GTA (Greater Toronto Area), including Etobicoke, North York, East York, Scarborough, Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills, Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Newmarket, Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock.

Q: Is there a traveling fee for weddings located in Ontario, outside of GTA (Greater Toronto Area)?
A: Yes, there is. For weddings located in Ontario, outside of GTA (Greater Toronto Area) please, contact me for a quote.

Q: Is there a traveling fee for weddings located outside of Ontario?
A: Yes, there is. For weddings located in Canada, outside of Ontario or worldwide please, contact me for a quote.

Q: Are you available to photograph a destination wedding?
A: Yes, I am available to photograph a wedding located anywhere in the world. Please, contact me for a quote.

Q: On our wedding day how many locations can be covered?
A: As many as you need.

Q: For your wedding photography services, do you charge per hour or per location?
A: For my wedding photography services I charge per hour. It starts from the moment I show up at your first location and it ends at the moment I leave the wedding event.

Q: What type of media do you use as a carrier of the digital negatives?
A: You will receive your digital negatives on a DVD.

Q: To what size the images can be enlarged with good photo quality?
A: The images can be enlarged up to 16x20' with good photo quality.For bigger sizes you should contact us for help.

Q: How long does it take for the final product to be ready?
A: The proofs and the negatives are ready approximately a month after the wedding. The enlargements and the thank you photo cards are ready approximately 4 weeks after the order is placed. The wedding photo albums are ready approximately two months after the order is placed.

Q: How many photographs do you take at a wedding?
A: I take 50 images per hour.

Q: What does it mean post production work in the digital darkroom?
A: It means all the work that is done with Adobe Photoshop. It includes adjustments for colour, contrast and sharpness, resizing, backup, CD burning etc. All wedding photographs go through the process of post production work in the digital darkroom before proofing.

Q: Do you retouch the wedding photographs?
A: All photographs that are ordered for enlarging, thank you photo cards or the ones that are part of the wedding albums are retouched.

Q: How long have you worked as a Toronto wedding photographer?
A: I work as a Toronto wedding photographer since 2001.

Q: Does the wedding photography package include B&W photographs?
A: Yes, it includes B&W wedding photographs unless otherwise specified by you. Sepia colour is also an option.

Q: Do you take posed photographs?
A: Yes.

Q: Do you work with an assistant?
A: I work with a professional assistant.

Q: How does the booking of the wedding day works?
A: To book a wedding date you need to sign a wedding photography contract and pay a deposit fee.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes, I do. I also accept personal cheques, bank drafts, money orders or cash.

Q: Do we keep the negatives?
A: Yes, you do.

Q: Can you work with a photo checklist for the group shoots created by us?
A: Yes, I recommend making and following a checklist for the group shoots.

Q: If our wedding schedule changes, would you be able to adjust to the new schedule?
A: Yes, I can. If your wedding schedule changes, please let me know as soon as possible so I can make the needed adjustments.

Q: Do you allow our wedding guests to take photographs at the same time you do?
A: Wedding guest taking photos is not forbidden however I strongly recommend you talk with your wedding guests before the wedding day and ask them not to interfere with the photographing process. This will allow us to work fast and to avoid double flashing problems.

Q: Do you enjoy working as a wedding photographer?
A: Yes, wedding photography is my passion.

Q: Do you work well with the other wedding vendors such as coordinators, caterers, videographers etc.?
A: Yes, I do.

Q: Do we have to sign a wedding photography contract?
A: Yes, in order to book a wedding date you need to sign a wedding photography contract and pay a deposit fee.

Q: If we cancel our wedding photography contract do we lose the booking deposit?
A: Yes, if you cancel the wedding photography contract you will lose the deposit.

Q: Do you offer wedding albums?
A: Yes, I offer top quality custom wedding albums. The bride and the groom can choose between contemporary flush mounted, coffee table and traditional matted wedding albums.

Q: What wedding album sizes do you offer?
A: I offer variety of sizes to the bride and the groom, the parents and friends and the bridal party.

Q: Are we going to see the design of the layout of the magazine style albums before it is printed?
A: Yes, you are.

Q: What type of wedding album covers do you offer?
A: I offer a variety of album covers all in genuine leather.

Q: Do you offer wedding photo thank you cards?
A: Yes, I do.

Q: Can you take our engagement photos?

Q: Is there a booking fee for your engagement photography services?
A: No, there is not.

Q: Can you hold a date for a wedding before the booking deposit is paid?
A: Booking of a wedding date is based on first come first serve basis and is possible only after signing a contract and paying a deposit.

A: Yes, the prices are subject to 5% GST and 8% PST.

A: The bride and the groom pay a deposit fee to book a date. The remaining needs to be paid on the wedding day.
